Japan's Toyota Motor says it will start making its Lexus luxury cars in the United States in 2015
Toyota President Akio Toyoda unveiled the plan in New York on Friday.
The automaker apparently aims to use the move to increase its profits in
the competitive North American market.
The company plans to expand operations at its Kentucky factory and produce 50,000 units of the Lexus ES sedan annually.
Toyota now produces 100,000 Lexus ES cars at its factory in Fukuoka Prefecture, western Japan.
